Learners will be introduced to the foundational aspects of agility in addition to an overview of Scrum. It is crucial that anyone involved in Scrum has a shared understanding of these topics. This module helps to form the basis for the rest of this course by focusing on the Agile Mindset, Values, Principles, and Practices in a set of interactive and creative exercises.
Those that wish to be successful in their implementations of Scrum must have a clear understanding of the three Scrum Roles. Learners will explore the activities and responsibilities of the Scrum Master, Product Owner, and Development Team at a low level to understand the differences and relationships between these three roles.
Product Backlog Topics
The Product Backlog is a vital artifact that enables Scrum Teams to deliver a stream of value to the market. This module focuses on defining the Product Backlog and Product Backlog Items, alongside the popular technique of representing them in User Stories. Learners also explore techniques to add detail, estimates, and ordering to Backlog Items.
Sprint Events – Pre-Execution
Learners are introduced to the concepts of a Sprint, the fundamental development unit in Scrum (limited to one month or less). This module focuses on defining concepts including the Increment and the Definition of Done. Learners will explore Sprint Planning, learning techniques to craft a simple Sprint Goal and a well understood Sprint Backlog.
Sprint Events – Execution
This module begins by introducing facilitation concepts supporting the Daily Scrum. Learners then explore the Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective. They will explore techniques to capture feedback, enabling the Scrum Team to interact with stakeholders to determine what to do next, and ways to improve their own interactions and streamline their delivery of value.
The Interactive Simulation sets our learning experience from all others, blending a mix of fast-paced exercises and engaging conversations that has learners practice all elements of Scrum. Teams will inspect and adapt based on their activities, receiving valuable hands-on experience and personalized coaching to help crystalize the class topics.
